“We recently hired Mike Knoche and his crew at Straight Ahead Construction to put a three-story addition on our home. Mike and his crew were great to work with. Our project included excavation and pouring of a foundation, plumbing to a new bathroom, and expansion of the heating system. We wanted to do some of the work ourselves, which Mike readily accommodated. After talking with Mike, we drafted much of the design documents, and we are doing the flooring and finish work.
We started working with Mike nine months before breaking ground by conferring on the construction diagrams. While we had a vision for the overall design, Mike made sure we had proper wall dimensions, the plan would accommodated plumbing and mechanicals, offered advice on general design considerations, and ensured that the documents were suitable for construction.
Throughout the construction, Mike was reliable and conscientious. He took care to communicate timelines, alert us to delays, and keep us informed. Mike and his crew did a good job of staying on schedule, even during a particularly wet summer, which created numerous challenges. Mike’s crew was friendly and easy to get along with. The cost was reasonable and came in very close to the projected cost, the only exceptions being changes we requested and the need to repair a cave-in caused by all the rain.
The addition is beautiful and functioning well. The bathroom is particularly nice. Mike suggested we consider a curbless shower, and we were skeptical at first, but now we think it was the best possible choice. The tile work is lovely and the open design dries quickly and is easy to keep clean. Working with Straight Ahead Construction was very rewarding and we recommend them highly.”
